The new regional offices of Burgess & Niple are located in the Wells Fargo Center in downtown Norfolk, VA. Arive worked with the Burgess & Niple District Director and a select team of Burgess & Niple architects and engineers to develop a design strategy for their new office. One goal was to experience a large open space upon entry to the suite without blocking views of downtown Norfolk and the water. This was accomplished by placing the conference room away from the entry. The large open space is not only for visitors to enjoy, but also contains the office break area. The leased space was long and linear. The shape dictated that the layout of private offices occur on the interior core, with open office spaces occurring on the perimeter. This allowed maximum natural lighting to penetrate the space, creating a bright and open environment. An additional challenge was the requirement to reuse all of their existing furniture. The reuse of existing furniture dictated the required sizes for private offices, the main conference room, and the open office areas.
