The regional accounting firm Wall, Einhorn & Chernitzer P.C. (WEC) sought to create a workplace that reflected their company principles, broke down physical barriers to collaboration, and embodied their brand and corporate identity. WEC encompasses the entire 12th floor of the Suntrust Building in downtown Norfolk. The space has exceptional views of the water, which WEC wanted to showcase for both their clients and staff. Arive developed a plan that located the reception lobby, conference rooms, and staff break area so that they took full advantage of these views. Building corners were reserved as collaborative zones that can be enjoyed by all staff. Private offices on the building perimeter have glass storefronts which allow light to penetrate into staff open office areas. A subtle branding theme was developed based on the nature of WEC’s numerical based work. The elevator lobby walls are a strong feature element; a modern interpretation of an ancient counting abacus. The numerical theme is carried throughout the space and can be seen in the custom back lit panel at the reception desk, through lighting fixture selections, and in the furniture and fabrics.
